Today was my last day for storytime for kindergarten and preschool before Christmas break. I shared some wonderful stories with them. " What do you want Santa to bring you?", I asked them. In the story, My Penguin Osbert, Joe is very specific about what he wants for Christmas: a penguin. When he gets it, he's not so sure it was a good idea. After the story, the kindergarten class made little penguins for a craft. Another fun story would be I want a Hippopotumas for Christmas. Read the story and then play the song for the kids to sing along with. For the preschool class, I read Mortimer's Christmas Manger, about a little mouse who finds the perfect house, but it has some unwanted statues. Later, he finds out it really belongs to a special baby, who had no place to lay when he was born. Mortimer finds a new place to live that is perfect. Bless You, Santa was another story I read. Santa has a bad cold and might not be able to deliver presents on Christmas Eve. All of his little furry helpers take care of him and he makes it through another holiday. Upon his return, he passes out treats to all his little friends, who now have caught Santa's cold. After the stories, I passed out Christmas cut-out cookies as a special treat.
